Your visit

The MARCHIVUM is the first address for all questions concerning the historical development of Mannheim and is open to anyone interested in the history of this city. We advise and provide insight into files and other historical documents, as far as legal regulations allow. The MARCHIVUM has two reading rooms with modern equipment - one for research into the history of the city and one for inspecting building files. Before visiting these facilities, it is advisable to make an appointment. If you have questions about the city's history, the online search provides an initial overview of the MARCHIVUM's extensive holdings.
The MARCHIVUM regularly offers lectures on topics related to the history of the city. School classes and other interested groups can hold seminars and workshops here. The diverse offerings are expanded by the city history exhibition "Typically Mannheim!" and the Nazi exhibition "Why should I care?".

We look forward to your visit.
